Oldpaths Critic Church’s Youth Pastor Arrested For Child Molesting

Dr. James A., PhD.

New Bridge Church of Lawrenceville, Georgia,  has been openly critical of the IFB churches (independent fundamental Baptists) with many of their followers constantly criticizing adherents of the Twitter #Oldpaths trend. New Bridge has a similar format and creed as that of IFB critic, Christian Farris of Next Level “ministries”. These groups of IFB critics are always quick to point out the sins of Jack Schaap and other IFB who have been charged with sex crimes, as a grounds for discrediting the entire IFB environment.

On December 28, 2016, the youth pastor of New Bridge Church, Nicholas Kelley, was arrested for child molestation.

Although their lead pastor, Jeff Lyle, denies being a Calvinist or Arminian, his defense of Calvinist doctrines is typical of the type of “neutral” pastors these days that disguise their closet-Calvinism in nuance.

So apparently, sexual abuse of children occurs among the IFB critics as well. Who knew!

  1. Reblogged this on Victory By Grace and commented:
1 Corinthians 10:12- Wherefore let him that think he standeth take heed lest he fall.

    Rotten hypocrites.

  2. Rodney says:

Stupidest, most ridiculous blog post I have ever read in my life. Child molestors are everywhere. The church denounced the offender’s actions, fired him on the spot, called the police, and called it exact;y what it is – a crime against a child. How is that hypocritical? Buy a dictionary and look up the word hypocrisy, Colin. Only an incompetent would turn this tragedy into an accusation against a church because they call out legalististic, KJV-only buffoons. What a joke.

    • James A, PhD says:

Hey, genius, I never said that sexual abuse doesn’t occur in the IFB. In fact, the post acknowledges that it does. The whole point of the post is that critics of the IFB act like its an epidemic exclusively owned by the IFB and those same critics-like YOU-constantly throw it in our face that there are a few among millions that have committed sex crimes. Yet one of your own critics ends up in the same boat, you want to apply a different standard for them.

For example. Why doesn’t the same defense you raised for this man get the same benefit applied to IFB? Most IFB who committed sex crimes admitted to it, were punished, and their church labeled it a sin and crime against a child. Yet when it’s IFB “KJV only buffoons”, it’s headline news, and is never forgotten.

And finally, just because you disagree with the KJVO position doesn’t make arguments about non KJV related topics wrong. That argument would also work both ways. I could say that your critic of my article is based on the fact that you are a modern version onlyist buffoon. I mean, after all, if someone thinks that Codex Sinaiticus is the best and oldest manuscript when it is a proven 19th century fraud, how could that person be credible on any other subject (using yours and James White’s logic)?

But thank you for giving me the opportunity to expose and embarrass just one more ignorant and uninformed IFB/KJVO critic. You’re about as bright as a college Democrat.

  3. Gee, I wonder how this would go down in a Sharia court.
